Shirley Jane (Johnson) Hall, 75, wife of Frank E. Hall, of 690 Fisher Circle, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Hall was born on June 6, 1937 in McKinley, Virginia, a daughter of the late James Edward, Sr. and Mary Jane (Strickler) Johnson.

Shirley was an excellent homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo, going to casinos with her husband Frank and spending time with her family, friends and coworkers at Genesco Grief Company where she was employed for 35 years and Cadence Inc. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by a son, John Timothy Howdyshell; two brothers, William Henry Johnson and James Edward Johnson, Jr.; four sisters, Maggie Spitler, Margie Johnson, Haddie Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Jarvis.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Roger Lee Howdyshell and wife Jody of Staunton; two daughters, Teresa Lewin and husband Marc of Verona and Linda Massey of Crimora; a step daughter, Amy McCall and husband Jack of Tulsa, OK; three brothers, Harry Johnson and wife Dolly and Voynt H. Bill Johnson all of Staunton and Frank Johnson of Greenville; two sisters, Eva Cook of Christiansburg and Helen Smith of Loganville, GA; seven grandchildren, Timothy L. Howdyshell, Johnathan Howdyshell, Erica Massey, Denny Massey, Michael Baker, Cheyenne Howdyshell, and Shaun Howdyshell; four great grandchildren, Quencey Howdyshell, Lyddia Howdyshell, Skyler Morris and Brandon Shaver; one step granddaughter Estelle McCall of Tulsa, OK.; special friends Judy Costello, Vickie Banks and Gladys Sprouse and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Third Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Jack B. Wilkers.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Rockingham County Hospice, Tina Jenkins of Hospice and Dr. Barry Munsey and staff for the care given to Mrs. Hall.
