Shirley Mae (Grant) Miller, 91, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Staunton Post Acute and Rehabilitation.

Ms. Miller was born in Nelson County, Virginia on November 17, 1933, the daughter of the late James Pelston Grant and Ocey Bell (Fitzgerald) Grant.

Shirley was a member of Fishersville Baptist Church and enjoyed coloring, knitting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Ms. Miller was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Miller was preceded in death by her son, Shannon Russell Fitzgerald; her daughter, Amelia Denise Newlen; two grandsons, Anthony and Roger Howdyshell; and a great-granddaughter, Tyleighah Newlen.

Surviving, are three granddaughters, Melissa Fitzgerald, Chastiti Newlen, and Shayla Fitzgerald; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be having a private gathering. There will be no public services.

Ms. Miller donated her body to the Virginia State Anatomical Program.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
