Obituary

Shirley Ann (Fitzgerald) Conner, 77, widow of Nolen Glenn Conner, formerly of 500 C Street, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 in the Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Conner was born on August 16, 1940 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late James Everson and Lottie Herman (Shuey) Fitzgerald.
Shirley was a faithful member of Victory Worship Center, she retired as a lifelong caregiver and she enjoyed her job as a hostess at the McDonalds on Greenville Avenue where she met and made many special friends. She enjoyed shopping and caring for others. Mrs. Conner truly loved the Lord, and being a servant for Him, she would take in those in need.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Lewis H. and Bessie Shuey; and four brothers, Herman, Therman, Gary and Dale Fitzgerald.
Surviving are two sons, Tim G. Conner and his wife Teresa and Steven L. Conner both of Staunton; four daughters, Tammy Sue Eckard and her husband Danny of Verona, Wendy G. Alphin and her husband Anthony of Staunton, Kimberley L. Smith and her husband Jamie of Churchville, and Stella M. Jenne of Staunton; a brother, Jim Fitzgerald of Roanoke; two sisters, Sherry Duncan of Smith Mountain Lake and Debbie Huff of Vinton; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a special cousin Otha Adams of Greenville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Ray Eppard.
The family would like to express a special Thank You to the staff at Shenandoah Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the love and care they provided Mrs. Conner during her illness.
