Shirley Faye (Chandler) Powell, 88, widow of Eugene Stuart Gene Powell formerly of Bailey Road, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in the Royal Care Senior Living in Staunton.
Mrs. Powell was born on October 5, 1927 in Stuarts Draft, a daughter of the late Daniel David and Lula Myrtle (Chandler) Harris.
Shirley was a member of the Middle River Church of the Brethren. She was a homemaker, a mother and grandmother who loved her special times with her family. She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by a son, Keith D. Powell; two brothers, Robert Chandler and William D. "Bill" Harris and a sister, Rosa Lee (Harris) Wolfe. Surviving are two sons, Larry E. Powell and his wife Linda S. and Gary L. Powell and his wife Chris B. all of Ft. Defiance; six grandchildren, Stephanie P. Lang and her husband John, Kimberly P. Barry and her husband Norman, Wendy P. Weldon and her husband Blake, Adam S. Powell, Jonathon L. Powell and Madison L. Powell; six great-grandchildren, Hannah B. Barry, Logan D. Barry, Emily A. Lang, Bethany R. Lang, Hailee L. Lang and Jacob W. Lang; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2015 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the homes of her children.
A private graveside will be conducted in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor David Ball.
