Scott Taylor Vess, 38, of Goshen, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
Scott was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on November 8, 1984, a son of Donald Grey Vess and Phyllis Leigh (Wenger) Vess.
Scott was employed at Cedar Creek Stables as a ground manager and was a 2003 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School.
Surviving, in addition to his parents of Craigsville, is his fiancé, Lisa Graham of Deerfield; a brother, Brian Vess and his wife, Julie of Churchville; and paternal grandfather, Donald L. "Pete" Vess and his wife, Pat of Goshen.
Scott was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Naomi (Sprouse) Vess and his maternal grandparents, Austin and Mabel (Landes) Wenger.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023 in Little River Church of the Brethren Cemetery by Pastor Rob Via and Reverend C.M. Pruitt.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Wilcher, Roger M. Warren, Nick Hilbert, Tom Humphreys, Leo Huffman, Wayne Desper, and Scott Landrum.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Goshen Rescue Squad (P.O. Box 66, Goshen, Virginia 24439), Deerfield Fire & Rescue (2927 Deerfield Valley Road, Deerfield, Virginia 24432), Craigsville/Augusta Springs Rescue Squad (P.O. Box 99, Craigsville, Virginia 24430), or Augusta Health Foundation, c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah (P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939).
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is handling his arrangements.
