Sandra Lee (Arehart) Collins, 72, of 404 Benson Street, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Collins was born May 23, 1939 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Walter Beard and Mamie Allene (Reed) Arehart.
Following her retirement from VSDB, Sandra was employed in the packing department at Target and Wal-Mart. She was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church, loved and lived for her grandchildren, taking care of others, enjoyed shopping and was known to shop till she dropped.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Surviving is a son, Creed Collins of Greenville; two daughters, Teresa C. Edsall and her husband Mark and Tina C. Nuckoles and her husband Ronnie all of Staunton; six grandchildren, Michelle Gee and her husband Benji, Crystal Simmons and her husband, Anthony, Tyler Nuckoles, Sydney Nuckoles, Josh Collins and Brandon Collins; two great-grandchildren, Paden Gee and Chloe Simmons; best friend, Nancy Staton; a special friend, Bill Cason; the father of her children, Butch Collins of Staunton; and a number of cousins also survive.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 in the Bethany resbyterian Church by Pastor Lester N. LaPrade.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Coffman Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Ronnie Nuckoles, 1294 Blandford Street.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060 or Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2501 Fifth Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
