Samuel Lee Sam Crowe, 59, husband of Bessie Mae (Adams) Crowe of 431 Peach Street passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Rockingham County.
Mr. Crowe was born December 31, 1954, in Harrisonburg, VA, a son of Claude Calvin and Norma Lee (Bailey) Crow.
Sam was an active member of the Beacon of Hope. He enjoyed attending sporting events, fishing, playing golf, and practicing martial arts.
Mr. Crowe was preceded in death by three uncles, Frank, Earl and Harold Crowe and two aunts Ida Carrol and Marie Shipe.
Surviving in addition to his parents of Mt. Sidney and his loving wife of 32 years is a son, Michael Gabriel Crowe and his wife Katelyn of Staunton; a daughter, Samantha Painter and her husband Rolen of St. Paul, VA; mother-in-law, Leona Virginia Adams of Staunton; two grandchildren, Sara Mae and Rolen Samuel Painter; an uncle, Mervin Crowe of Burketown; and many cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence of his sister-in-law Virginia and Cleveland Rose, 527 Hull Street, Staunton.
A Celebration of life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2014, in Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church by Pastor Keith A. May and John Crawford, III.
Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be David Adams, Cleveland Rose, Rolen Painter, Richard Jeffrey Roberts, Chris Shifflett, Tommy Rardin, William Painter, and Lee Huffer, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends attending the service.
