Sally Ramona (Strickland) Goetz, 91, widow of Frederick A. Major Goetz, formerly of Clarksville, TN, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 at Emeritus of Staunton.
Mrs. Goetz was born December 22, 1922 in Atlanta, Georgia, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ruby (Royston) Strickland.
Sally was a member of First Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN. She served as a stewardess at Eastern Airlines with its founder Eddie Rickenbacker. She was a devoted Army wife and traveled with her husband during his military career. Mrs. Goetz retired from Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation after 30 years of service. After she and Major retired they enjoyed camping, RVing, and visiting their beloved son, Rick.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Goetz was preceded in death by a son, Donald Lewis Goetz; a grandson, Joshua Donald Goetz; a brother, Joe Strickland; and a sister, Geneva Strickland McKinney.
Surviving family members include a son, Frederick A. Rick Goetz, II and wife Patty of Waynesboro; a sister, Moina Strickland of Rex, GA; five grandchildren, Gretchen Skypeck, Aaron Goetz, Adam Goetz, Erin Trimble, and Logan Trimble; two great grandchildren, Walter Skypeck and Parker Skypeck; and her loving dog, Precious Susie.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2014 in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens Chapel in Clarksville, TN. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
