Sally Ann (Downey) Morris, 83, widow of Herbert Lawrence Morris, Sr. of 114 Mulberry Street, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Morris was born on August 2, 1934 in Augusta County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Ernest Dewey and Lottie Ethel (Meeks) Downey.
Sally attended Valley Independent Baptist Church and retired in 1979 from Genesco-L-Greif Company where she was employed as a presser with twenty-two years of service. She enjoyed watching baseball, receiving flowers from family and friends and she loved her family and cherished spending time with them.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Ervine Luke Coyner, II and Mickey Lynn Breeden; three brothers, Dewey Downey, Clyde Downey, and Frank Downey; and four sisters, Bertha Pesta, Ruby Durham, Nellie Miller, and Louise Cox.
Mrs. Morris is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are two sons, Herbert L. Morris, Jr. of Fishersville and Pastor Charles W. Morris and his wife Debbie of Florida; two daughters, Carol M. Fletcher and her husband Ricky and Brenda Lee Morris-Fisher and her husband Douglas, both of Staunton; a special daughter-in-law and friend, Rebecca Morris; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harold Wade.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Sammy Colvin, Ervin Coyner, Sr., Frank Shuey, Leonardo Charre, Derrick Shuey and Tommy Whitlock.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
