Ruth Ellen (Campbell) May, 87, widow of James Cleveland "Jimmy" May of Churchville, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.

Mrs. May was born on June 3, 1935 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Lewis D. and Frances Elizabeth (Colvin) Campbell.

Ruth was a member of Jerusalem Chapel and enjoyed flowers and watching birds and deer.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Constance May Smiley; daughter-in-law, Kim May; brothers, Clyde, Donald, Fred, and Nelson Campbell and sisters, Maude Campbell, Bessie Fridley and Mary Lou Campbell.

Surviving are her sons, Jeffrey A. May of Staunton and Richard L. "Ricky" May and his wife, Gail of Mt. Sidney; grandchildren, John Smiley, Jr., Richard May, Jr., Jacklyn Nutty, Justin May, Philip Smiley and Eric May; two brothers, Oscar Campbell and wife, Violet of Churchville and Edward Campbell and wife, Cherie of Staunton; and two sisters, Susan Fridley and Thelma Larson, both of Maryland.

Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in the Craigsville Community Cemetery by Reverend David Burch.
