Russell Allen Welcher

Russell Allen Welcher, 80, of Fishersville, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026 at the Regency Senior Living in Fishersville.

Russell was born in Staunton, VA on July 27, 1945 a son of the late John Boyd and Minnie (Stanley) Welcher.

Russell served four years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired from American Safety Razor as a supervisor. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended every sporting event that his grandchildren had, when he was able to.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shellie Welcher and seven siblings.

Russell is survived by his son, Chad Welcher and his wife Meridith, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nine siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tom Quick. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Knott, Mike Knott, Kevin Knott, Aaron Cross, Joey Cross, and Randy Sprouse.

Thank you to his VA medical team that took care of him in his final years, especially Wendy Wine for her care and compassion. We also want to thank Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and especially his Nurse, Kim Lowrey.
