Ruby Anna (Riley) Buchanan, 82, wife of Lawrence A. Buchanan, of 43 Niswander Road, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Buchanan was born on March 17, 1932 in Rockbridge County, a daughter of the late Hubert Lee and Anna Bell (Baine) Riley.
Ruby was a long time member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She was retired from Western State Hospital where she had worked as a certified nursing assistant. She enjoyed collecting dolls, crocheting, Christmas, family get togethers, her grandchildren, and her dogs including her special dog Mrs. Rosie.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Buchanan was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 65 years, are two sons, Robert Bob Buchanan and wife Linda of Staunton and Hubert Thomas Tommy Buchanan and wife Amanda of Natalie; three daughters, Pattie Davis and husband Clyde and Alisa Lisa Stevenson and husband Reggie all of Staunton, and Evelyn Thatcher and husband Lester of Verona; fourteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the residence.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1000 North Coalter Street, Staunton by Pastor Daniel Darrikhuma.
Burial will follow in the McKinley United Methodist Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Buchanan, Curtis Riley, Gary Riley, Lonnie Buchanan, Donny Strickler and Ray Buchanan.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
