Ruby D. Phillips
STAUNTON:
Ruby Estelle (Dudley) Phillips, 91, of 1417 Lyle Avenue, passed away peacefully at her home after a short illness on April 3, 2013 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Phillips was born October 29, 1921, in Albemarle County, Virginia to the late Ernest Price Dudley and Bertie Estelle (Bolton) Dudley.
She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and the Christian Singles.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Robert Verlan Phillips, Sr., she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred (Dudley) Aylor and a brother, Forrest Dudley.
She is survived by four sons, Robert "Verlan" Phillips, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Richmond, Ernest Niles Phillips and wife Missy of Waynesboro, Rodney Berry Phillips and Wilma Davis of Stuarts Draft, Glenn Andrew "Drew" Phillips and Angela Pumphrey of Staunton; two brothers, Walter Dudley and Johnny Dudley of Orange; five grandchildren, Kirk Phillips of Riverview, Florida, Matthew Phillips of Arlington, Alex Phillips, Mark Phillips and Erin Phillips Florin of Richmond; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of her life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Temple D. Myers.
Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro.
Active pallbearers will be Alex Phillips, Mark Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Berry Phillips, George Maybush, John Curry and Billy Pittman.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Phillips at 1417 Lyle Avenue, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening, April 5, 2013 and Saturday following the burial.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Memorial Baptist Church, 224 Taylor Street, Staunton VA 24401.
