Obituary

Ruby Ann (Lucas) Rosen, 97, widow of George Harman Rosen of Middlebrook, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022.

Born August 23, 1924, near Middlebrook, she was the daughter of the late Roy Stuart Lucas and Mamie Wade (Strickler) Lucas. She was preceded in death by her mother on September 9, 1924. She was raised in the home of her loving grandparents, Robert Aurelius and Julia (Armstrong) Strickler.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Harman Rosen of Middlebrook and Philip Wade Rosen and his wife, Rosemary of Staunton. Also surviving are three nieces, a nephew, cousins, good friends and a special niece, Linda (Rosen) Nulik of Waynesboro; three step-grandchildren, Terri Langford, Scott Nicholas and Brian Nicholas; and seven step-great grandchildren. Others preceding her in death were a half-brother, Richard P. Lucas and his wife Zelma B. Lucas of Verona; a half-sister, Elizabeth L. Johnson and her husband Donald L. Johnson of Verona; a daughter-in-law, Lisa (Gilbert) Rosen; step-mother, Annie (Paxton) Lucas, and Ruby's very special friend, Tyler, her faithful Sheltie.

Ruby was a 1942 graduate of Middlebrook High School and a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church for over 70 years. She enjoyed working in Circle 11, the Church's Museum and Historical Committee. Her love of history and genealogy will be her legacy to family and friends. Among her many interests was a deep love for all types of music which was passed on to her children.  She enjoyed sharing recipes, plants and flowers and good conversation. She sent many greeting cards for all occasions. Above all, her life revolved around the home and family. Ruby truly lived one day at a time.

A graveside service will be held at 6:00p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery by Pastor Loren Mitchell.

Those wishing to pay respects, may do so between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

It is suggested, those desiring, make memorial contributions to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 334 Mt. Tabor Rd, Staunton, VA 24401.
