Roy Franklin Jackson, 92, widower of Annie (Downey) Jackson of Verona, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Jackson was born September 1, 1920 in Augusta County, a son of the late John Newton and Elizabeth (Bazzrea) Jackson.
Roy was retired after forty-two years of service with the Stillwater Worsted Mill in Craigsville. He liked country music, enjoyed playing the guitar, cooking, watching many types of sports, comedies and animal shows on TV. Mr. Jackson was a kind and gentle man who had great strength and courage throughout his lifes adversities.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by his four brothers, Walter, Bill, Bob and Fred Jackson.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol A. Jackson and special daughter, Jayne Freed both of Verona; beloved friend, Dian Lucas of Lyndhurst; sisters-in-law, Virginia Conger of Verona and Margie Gowan of Staunton; close nephew, James Downey of Staunton; special neighbors, Bill and Wanda Fleshman of Verona; a number of nieces and nephews and his canine companions, Brandi and Nicky.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John W. Ward.
Private burial will follow in the Craigsville Community Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Kenny Shaw, Dennis Landrum, Charlie Ashley, Roger Burnett, Tom Freed and John Frye.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Fleshman, Carl Fix and David Howsare.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
