Roy Hoecker, 94, formerly of Woodside Drive, Waynesboro VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Waynesboro Manor.

Mr. Hoecker was born on April 15, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to Richmond and Emilie (Syska) Hoecker.

Roy graduated from Cornell University in 1950, with a BS in Agricultural Sciences.  He and his best friend Henry Martin worked three farms in succession, in Kent County, Maryland.  A fire at the third farm house piqued Roy's interest in residential and commercial insurance, and he began working for the Hogans Agency in Chestertown, MD.

It was there that he met a customer who intrigued him, by the name of Sandra Rohr.  They married in 1971.  Together they lived along the Eastern Shore of MD and then in the Shenandoah Valley of VA as Roy pursued a career as a real estate agent. He was a wonderful family man, and he also enjoyed building boats, sailing, and was a jack of all trades.

He is preceded in death by his sister Phyllis in 2019, and his wife Sandra, in September 2022.

He is survived by Max Hoecker (Vanessa) of North Garden VA, Laura Rediehs (Chris) of Canton NY and Holly Robertson (Anthony) of Middlebrook VA; as well as four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be private.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
