Roy Junior Bratton, 86, husband of Phyllis Yvonne (Hamilton) Bratton, of 154 Crawford Drive, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Bratton was born on February 22, 1929 in Draper, VA, a son of the late Jessie James and Willie Sue (Rupe) Bratton.
Roy was a member of the Lighthouse Church and a Veteran of the United States Army. He was retired from Moore Brothers Construction with 36 years of service as a mechanic and later the Tire Mart as a delivery driver. Mr. Bratton enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to tractor pulls and was an avid NASCAR fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bratton was preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years, are two sons; Roy A. Bratton of Savanah, GA, and Ricky E. Bratton and his wife Jill of Stafford, VA; a daughter, Cathy B. Macpherson of Savanah, GA; three sisters, Bonnie Whisman and her husband Tom, Colleen Lucion and her husband Al, both of Dublin, VA and Estella Wright of Pulaski; seven grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015, in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Lighthouse Church by Pastor Harold L. Wade.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be his son Ricky E. Bratton; Darrell Bratton, Chris Lambert, Cecil Campbell, Eric Walter and Ronnie Conner.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and members of Lighthouse Church.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
