Rosalie B. Thomas
STAUNTON:
Rosalie Virginia (Barkley) Thomas, 88, widow of Eugene C. Thomas of Staunton passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012 at her residence.
Born January 27, 1923, in Middlebrook, she was the daughter of the late Franklin J. and Nannie (Hanger) Barkley.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. She was devoted to the love and care of her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Nathaniel Almarode; a brother, Graham J. Barkley and two sisters, Marjorie B. Brooks and Mary Ann B. Hemp.
Survivors include three daughters, Nancy T. Webster of Swoope; Sue T. Whitesell and husband Richard of Staunton and Carolyn T. Halterman and husband Galen of Fishersville; grandchildren, Lee Annette Whitesell, Tamara W. Woods, Jeremy D. Webster, Cynthia W. Almarode and husband Derek, Rebecca Halterman, Kevin Halterman and wife Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, Austin and Misty Woods and Ashlyn Almarode; a brother, Franklin L. Barkley and wife Nancy of Danville; a sister, Ruth Hogshead of Front Royal; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Barkley of Danville; a brother-in-law, Dallas Hemp and wife Linda of Middlebrook and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in St. Johns Reformed United Church of Christ Cemetery by Pastor Scott Duffey.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers it is suggested those desiring to make memorial contributions to the Bethel Presbyterian Women of the Church, 563 Bethel Green Road, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
