Ronnie Layne Forbes, 59, husband of Joyce (Broughman) Forbes of 407 F Street, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010 in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Mr. Forbes was born August 5, 1950 in Alleghany County, a son of the late Paul Bryant Forbes and Melba (Vess) Forbes.
Ronnie was mostly recently employed with Mohawk after 22 years of service with the Unifi Company. He was a member of the NRA, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Dale, Jr.
In addition to his mother of Millboro and his wife to whom he married July 1, 1995, survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, LaWanda D. Riley and her fianc Ronnie Liptrap, Jr. of Warm Springs, Bobbie Jo VanNess and her husband Jason and Shawnna L. Richardson and her husband Timmy all of Eagle Rock; two step-sons, Keith Ingram of Craigsville and Jason Ingram of Fishersville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy Forbes and his wife Kathy and Denny Forbes and his wife Stephanie all of Millboro; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet Plecker and her husband Craig of Fairview and Teresa Smiley and her husband Joe of Millboro; eight grandchildren, Summer, Shasta, Savannah, Tyler, Jacob, Gavin, Regan and Corbin; and a special friend, Timmy Sprouse of Craigsville also survives.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev William Gram.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory 230 Frontier Drive is in charge of his arrangements.
