Ronald Lee Ronnie Maxwell, 76, widower of Carolyn Diane (Wilfong) Maxwell of 1636 Hankey Mountain Highway, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 in the Veterans Medical Center in Salem.

Mr. Maxwell was born on September 20, 1941 in Stokesville, a son of the late Ira Wilford and Norma Ruth (Witts) Maxwell.

Ronnie was a member of the Elk Run Church of the Brethren, he was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, and he was retired from Smiths Transfer and Shickel Corp. as a Mechanic and Fabricator. Mr. Maxwell enjoyed turkey hunting, Bluegrass music, and sharing stories with his family and friends. Ronnie will be remembered most by his family as a man that Lived a full life. Surviving are three daughters, Kelly Maxwell and her partner Peter Nylander of Roanoke, Katherine Maxwell of Waynesboro and Kristen Swisher and her husband Jurdy of Churchville; a special son Terry Milstead of Mt. Solon; two brothers, William Thomas Maxwell of Cleveland, Tennessee and Donald Miller Maxwell of Paris, Virginia; two sisters, Leila Peg Mace and husband Jack of Richmond and Mary Jo Maxwell of Staunton; three grandchildren, Andrew S. Whitelaw, Alyssa B. Whitelaw and Carlee J. McCray; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends following the service and other times at his residence.
