Ronald Buford "Ron" Welcher, 78, husband of Elizabeth "Anne" (Mohler) Welcher formerly of Stingy Hollow Road went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at The Retreat at Fishersville surrounded by his family.
Mr. Welcher was born in Craigsville, Virginia on August 30, 1942, a son of the late Arvil Buford and Beatrice Clare (Robertson) Welcher.
Ronald was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Ron retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation where he was employed as District Utilities Engineer for forty years, later returning part-time to escape from Anne's "Honey-Do" list. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially vacationing with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Welcher was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sue Burke; two uncles, Burnett Robertson and Kenneth Robertson; and an aunt, Stella Glover.
Surviving in addition to his wife of fifty-four years, are two daughters, Tamala Dawn "Tammy" Blake and her husband Ron and Jennifer Anne Welcher and her friend Shawn Hottinger all of Staunton; two grandchildren, Gavin Foster Blake and Garrett Connor Blake; a sister, Wanda Lee Welcher of Staunton; two uncles, Larry Robertson and Donald Robertson; three aunts, Betty Hammer, Pluma Wilkerson, and Lina Harper; a niece, Mary Hommel and her fianc Michael Rolph; a great-nephew, Tristan Rolph; and numerous additional family members that Ron loved dearly.
Friends may pay their respects from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Ron Blake, 73 Stingy Hollow Road, Staunton.
A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 at Memorial Baptist Church by Pastor Mark W. Jones. The family will receive friends following the service in the Great Hall at the church.
Honorary pallbearers will be Todd Wilmore, David Rhodes, Milton Grady, Billy Rowe, and Bill Gardner.
Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.
