Ron was born on December 13, 1929 at Mill Gap in Highland County, a son of the late Frank S. and Margaret J. (Hupman) Hiner.
Ronald was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was a retired mail contractor driver with Don B. Swisher Trucking and previously was employed with Westinghouse for twenty-one years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hiner was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Jordan.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-two years, are two sons, Martin Hiner and Stephen Hiner and his wife Amelia all of Staunton; a daughter, Sherry Foster and her husband Jim of Lyndhurst; four grandchildren, Amanda Walker and her husband Beau, Jimmy Foster and his wife Claire, Amy Jurls and her husband Darby and Allyson Hiner; and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Connie Martin and Marlene Reynolds; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in the Christ United Methodist Church.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the Christ United Methodist Church by Rev. Sarah Locke and Pastor Robert Bob Edwards.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens with military rites.
Active pallbearers will be Elwood Furr, Grady Swink, G.W. Obaugh,
Brent Obaugh, Kyle Obaugh, Scott Jordan and Earl McCray, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Methodist Men of the church.
