Ronald Lee "Charlie" Ayres, 71, husband of Barbara (Hartman) Ayres, of Middlebrook Road, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Ayres was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia on June 13, 1950, a son of the late Layton Ayres and Irene (Howell) Ayres.

Charlie retired after 50 years of service at Nibco and was a Jack-of- all trades.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ayres was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin Ayres, Byron Ayres, and Gary Ayres and two sisters, Susan Devereaux and Patricia Jordan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 48 years, are two sons, Brayton M. Ayres and his companion, Carol Roetto of Greenville, and James M. Ayres and his wife, Raven of Fairfield; two daughters, Ronna L. Ayres and her companion, Robert "Rob" Carpenter of Staunton, and Seleina A. Ayres and her companion, Michael Davis of Stuarts Draft; sister, Kimberly Vest of Buena Vista; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ayres of Stuarts Draft; eight grandchildren, Cody, Robbie, Aidan, Addison, Alexander, Harper, Haven, and Russell with an additional grandchild expected; two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Alaina; and special friend, Tony Fox.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
