Roger Lee Buchanan, Jr., 53, husband of Tessa Annette (Wimer) Buchanan, of 721 Old Greenville Road, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

Mr. Buchanan was born on January 9, 1965 in Staunton, a son of Roger Lee, Sr. and Sue (Irvine) Buchanan.

Roger was a 1983 graduate of Riverheads High School, he worked for Virginia Truck Center/Excel Truck Group as a parts salesman, and enjoyed golf, carpentry, woodworking, hunting, and fishing. Roger loved his children unconditionally. He was extremely involved in every activity, never missing an event. He was a proud father, always bragging about their accomplishments. Roger never met a stranger, was always willing to help others in any way he could as he had a heart of gold, always putting others before himself.

Mr. Buchanan was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Catherine Irvine and paternal grandparents, Henry and Dorothy Buchanan.

Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty years and his parents of Staunton, is a son, Henry N. Buchanan of Pearisburg; a daughter, Catherine L. Buchanan of Staunton; his pet dog "Gracie"; a brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Joy Buchanan; mother-in-law, Margaret Wimer; father-in-law, Curtis Wimer; three brothers-in-law and their wives, Rick and Wendy Wimer, Randy and Lona Wimer, and Alan and Jess Wimer; nieces and nephews, James, Clint, Carina, Christopher, Dexter, Cassie, Carolyn and husband Josh, Haili, Tanner, Zachary, Gretchen, Patrick and Lydia; and a number of great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 in the American Legion Post #13, 357 Cedar Green Road by Pastor Denny Sites. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Roger\u0027s memory, to the Staunton Augusta Regional S.P.C.A., Post Office Box 2014, Staunton, Virginia 24402.
