Robert Howard Wilfong, 88, husband of Joyce Marie (Doyle) Wilfong, of Berry Farm Road, Staunton, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Wilfong was born in Highland County, Virginia on June 12, 1934, a son of the late Walker Ervin Wilfong and Gladys Lillian (Wimer) Wilfong.

Robert was an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church where he served on Session and was a member of Men of the Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Dupont after 32 years of service. Mr. Wilfong had a strong work ethic, enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilfong is preceded in death by a brother, Walker E. Wilfong and a sister, Beatrice L. Bovis.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 66 years, is a daughter, Dawn W. Smith and her husband, Michael of Salem; three grandchildren, Jordan Scott Sereno and his wife, Chandler, Justin Sheldon Sereno and his wife, Macey, and Zachary M. Smith, and his wife, Lauren; five great-grandchildren, Julianne Sereno, Lane Sereno, Brynn Wells, Walker Sereno, and Beckett Sereno; a nephew, Henry Hank Bovis; and a pet cat, "Mia".

Those desiring may pay their respects from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor John K. Craft.

The family will receive friends following the service.
