Robert Glenn Smith, 79, husband of Naomi (Carter) Smith of 303 Robinhood Road, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Smith was born on April 16, 1936 in Staunton, a son of the late Cecil Glendale and Mabel (Perry) Smith.
Robert was a member of Smokey Row Baptist Church where he was a Trustee and sang in the church choir. He was retired from Hollister Inc. where he worked in shipping and receiving. He enjoyed trucks and cars of all models, he enjoyed singing with the Gospel Travelers, the United Voices and the True Tones Band.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, survivors include a son, Kevin G. Smith and his fiance Latisha Hoge of Waynesboro; two daughters, Rhonda J. Chambers of Staunton and Carla J. Taylor and her husband Macklewis of Suffolk; a brother, Cecil L. Smith of Slocomb, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Gavin M. Chambers, Stacia I. McMillan and her husband James, Desmond Q. Chambers, Naren M. Taylor, Nigel W. Smith, Cierra Venable and an adopted granddaughter, Nevaeh L. Durrette; five great grandchildren, Aryana Chambers, Jyah Chambers, Gvon Chambers, Navell McMillan and Lyra McMillan, Glenns doll baby special aunt Aline Robertson; a brother-in-law, Samuel Tate and a number of nieces, nephews and many cousins also survive.
Those desiring may pay their respects at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and anytime at the residence.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 12:00 noon, Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in Smokey Row Baptist Church by Pastor Miles M. Siler.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Ernest Ecoe, Tommy Crawford, Theodore Maddox, Walter Brown, Donald Hart and Eddie Harris.
