Robert Matthew Scott, 72, widower of Doretha (Perkins) Scott, formerly of Thornrose Avenue, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in the Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehab.
Mr. Scott was born on October 19, 1945 in Augusta County, a son of the late Robert, Jr. and Cornelia (Bell) Scott.
Robert was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church, he retired from the Augusta County District Court, and he enjoyed playing the piano and pitching horseshoes.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene F. Scott and wife Gloria.
Surviving are three sons, Robert N. Scott, Stacey E. Scott and his wife Becky L., and James E. Scott and his wife Gail; four daughters, Yulanda Davis and her husband Terry, Jewel Thomas, Latanya Scott, and Victoria L. Scott, all of Staunton; two brothers, Marvin H. Scott and his wife Jesse of Harrisonburg, and Leroy C. Scott of Staunton; three sisters, Loretta S. Johnson and her husband Richard and Cornelia S. Pereira and her husband David, all of Staunton, and Dorothy Scott of New York; a sister-in-law, Twanda Gay and her husband Ron of Maryland; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018 in Thornrose Cemetery by Elder Samuel Spears.
The family will receive friends following the service in Mt. Salem Baptist Church.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
