Robert Michael "R.M." Meek, 86, widower of Bonnie Lee (Dean) Meek of Crimora, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Summit Square of Waynesboro.
Mr. Meek was born in Waynesboro on June 18, 1936, a son of the late John Franklin Meek, Sr. and Mattie Pauline (Gayhart) Meek.
R.M. served in the United States Navy. He was a plank owner on the USS Saratoga CV-60. R.M. was a machinist by trade, retiring from G.E./Genicom after thirty-four years.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sons, James E. Meek, Charles L. Meek, and Robert M. Meek, Jr.; two brothers, John F. Meek, Jr. and Kenneth L. Meek; four sisters, Sylvia R. Boone, Stella M. Batten, Carolyn S. Craig, and Deborah G. Meek.
He is survived by two daughters, Vickie Lam (Donnie) and Amerylis Roberts (Scott); daughter-in-law, Sheila Meek; three brothers, David M. Meek, Randy P. Meek and Lloyd S. Meek; two sisters, Dora A. Peery and Betty J. Towler; his "smart" dog, Lucky; nine grandchildren, Bridgette Palmer, Ashlyn Vint (Will), Dustin Meek (Kristen), Heather Wilson (Mark), Chuck Roberts (Brandie), Danette Rogers, Donnie Lam, Jr. (Sarah), Deric Lam (Tabitha), Duane Lam (Joni); nineteen great-grandchildren, Corey, Leia, Chase, Teagan, Will, Kinley, Bently, Rowan, Parker, Scottie, Anna, Max, Austin, Hayden, Andrew, Kace, Charity, Berea, and Kylee,; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory with a graveside service following at 2:00 p.m. in Augusta Memorial Park with Reverend August Lupino officiating.
At R.M.'s request, casual dress only, no suits or ties.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at Summit Square and at Hospice of the Shenandoah.
