Robert W. "Mickey" Cash III, 75, of Staunton, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.

He was the oldest child of Robert W Jr and Janet (Harshbarger) Cash.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 39 years, Paula Keeley and their two children, Andrew Cash and Maggie Cash, two grandchildren, Will & Elora. He also leaves behind his two younger sisters, Julie Cash and Jenny Snyder (Doug) and several nieces and nephews.

Mickey was born in Mt Sidney, Virginia where he spent his early years. The family moved to Staunton where Mickey briefly attended Staunton Military Academy and then went on to finish his education in the Staunton Public school system and graduated from Robert E Lee High School in 1963. During his high school years Mickey was part of the band scene in Staunton. In 1964 he played in the band The Dynamics and in 1966 he joined the band The Impalas and the Medics. After High school Mickey attended Ferrum College and while attending Ferrum he joined the Naval Reserves.

Mickey served a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1968 - 1971. After his return from Vietnam Mickey attended Bridgewater College and started working with his father at the family business R. W. Cash Plumbing & Heating.

Mickey was many things: a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was also a gourmet cook, a writer, a UVA Cavalier fan, an avid collector of railroad memorabilia and antiques and an Augusta County history buff. Mickey valued his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. His loving advice, support, generosity and caring nature will be missed by all who knew him.

Mickey was a member of the C & O historical Society and the Augusta County Historical Society. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to these organizations. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will take place at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
