Robert Lewis Bobby Hottel, 75, of Straith Street passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016 in the Kings Daughters Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Hottel was born on January 24, 1941 in Woodstock, Virginia, a son of the late Bender Haymaker and Nora Catherine (Holsinger) Hottel.
Bobby was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School class of 1960 and a veteran of the United States Army. He retired in 2005 after thirty years of employment with the CSX Railroad as a scheduler/loader and prior to the military, he was employed by VDOT and General Electric. He was a member of the Florida Coast Guard and a lifetime member of Hottel-Keller Memorial. Mr. Hottel was a Civil War enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and held his commercial pilots license, spending many hours flying and air gliding.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hottel was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, James Clark.
Surviving is a brother, Richard B. Hottel and his wife Anne of Churchville; a sister, Anna C. Clark of Staunton; two nephews, David Hottel and wife Vicki and Jason Hottel and wife Tabitha; two great-nephews, Bryce Hottel and Logan Hottel; and two great-nieces, Morgan Hottel and Lilly Evans also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 in St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Churchville by Rev. Rodney Ronneberg and Rev. Sarah Locke.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be David Hottel, Jason Hottel, Wayne Hottel, Terry Seal, William Holsinger and Darryl Holsinger.
