Robert “Bob” Lee Spradlin, a resident of Staunton, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at his home.

He was born November 10, 1940 in Scottsville, Virginia and was a son of the late Samuel Linwood and Margaret Elizabeth (Cale) Spradlin.

Bob dedicated many years of service to the Staunton City Schools maintenance department before retirement. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and yearly camping trips with his grandchildren (where there were few rules). He enjoyed playing the guitar and classic country music. He had an infectious laugh, and made friends everywhere he went.

Above all else, Bob was a devoted family man. He shared nearly fifty wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Mary (Bigley) Spradlin, until her passing. Their love story spanned 49½ years and remained one of the greatest blessings of his life. He was a proud and loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy came from simply being surrounded by those he loved. His family meant the world to him, and his love for them was constant, unconditional, and unwavering.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Spradlin; three sisters, Margie Judy, Lena Loan, and Marie Fridley; grandson-in-law, Ian King; and granddaughter-in-law, Tamara Clark-Spradlin.

To cherish his memory, he leaves behind a daughter, Kathleen O’Malley of Waynesboro; a son, Robert Keith Spradlin of Crimora; six grandchildren, Brian Keith Spradlin, Heather Rene’ King (Robert Ellis), Courtney Marie Frazier (Eric Scobba), Crystal Kayann Spradlin-Wilson (Woodrow Wilson), and Douglas Daniel Frazier (Erin Frazier), and Sunny O’Malley; five great-grandchildren, Evangeline Rose and Jake Phillip Frazier; and Amareus Hayes, Alaysia Monae, and Aniyla Kaylani Wilson; three brothers, Grover Spradlin of Staunton, Johnny Spradlin of Craigsville, and Charlie Spradlin of Salem; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Burial will be private in Thornrose Cemetery.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
