Obituary

Robert David Buck Howdyshell, Sr. 79, husband of Phyllis Ann (Bartley) Howdyshell of 390 Frontier Drive passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Howdyshell was born on November 5, 1936 in Augusta County, a son of the late Robert W. and Helen (Knott) Howdyshell.
Robert was a member of the Ridgeview Baptist Church and retired in 2001 from Dr. Pepper Bottling Company with twenty-two years of service. Prior to his employment with Dr. Pepper he was employed by Royal Crown Cola with twenty-four years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed attending shooting matches and was a fan of NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Howdyshell was preceded in death by a daughter, Deanna Marie Howdyshell and a sister, Dorothy Dot Craig.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty years, are two sons, David Howdyshell of Staunton and Daryl Howdyshell and his fiance Lisa Bryant of Stuarts Draft; two daughters Shelby Riley of Staunton and Sherry Hutchens and her husband Bobby of Waynesboro; Mr. Howdyshell was known as Daddy Buck to his four grandchildren, Michelle Hutchens, Megan Riley, Dustin Howdyshell and Kristina Birckhead and a special little boy, Joshua Pennington; a brother, Boyd Dean Howdyshell of Mint Spring; three sisters, Ethel Sis Warren and Joyce Susie Doyle both of Staunton and Anna Betty Thompson of Stuarts Draft; and a number of nieces, nephews and many cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Gary Hodges and Pastor Donald McClure.
Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Phil Welcher, Dwayne Rivenback, Dwayne Burns, Hollis Jordan, Roger Moats, Roy Harlow and Marty Hostetter.
Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers from Dr. Pepper Bottling Company.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Augusta Health Foundation Hospice of the Shenandoah, Post Office Box 1000, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Phil and Kitty Welcher and the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for all of their help and support.
