Robert Allen Gilmer, 78, formerly of Peach Street, Staunton, passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Gilmer was born in Staunton, Virginia on September 2, 1943, a son of the late Clarence Edward Gilmer and Sylvia Pauline (Fulwider) Gilmer.

Robert was retired from Walmart. He enjoyed NASCAR, gardening, and could build anything.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilmer was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles "Sonny" Gilmer and Johnny Gilmer; and two sisters, Beulah Mae Hill and Shirley Thompson.

Surviving, are three sons, James A. Gilmer and wife Angela of Staunton, Wayne Gilmer and wife Sarah of Waynesboro, and Danny Gilmer of Staunton; a brother, Kenneth Gilmer of Staunton; and five grandchildren, Mason Gilmer, Adrian Gilmer, Haley Gilmer, Robert Maxwell Gilmer, and Caroline Gilmer.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Oaklawn Memory Gardens in Staunton by Reverend William "Bill" Trice.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in Coffman Funeral Home.

Active Pallbearers will be his sons, James, Wayne and Danny Gilmer, his grandson, Mason Gilmer, and Keith Davis and James Corbett.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
