Robert Bob Norman Gest, Sr., 81, of 58 Woodbrook Lane, Staunton passed away Sunday, October 25 in Augusta Health in Fishersville, due to complications of a stroke
Mr. Gest was born June 20, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph Harold Gest and Norma Frederica (Leibfritz) Gest Davis.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was an Agricultural Technician with the Brevard County Extension Office in Cocoa, Florida, was formerly employed with Lockheed-Martin Corporation and the owner of Gaslite Inn in Frontenac, Florida. Bob was a University of Florida Alumni and a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was also an avid gardner and took great pride in the tomatoes he raised.
Mr. Gest was a very special dad and grandpa to his family.
Survivors include a son, Robert Rob Norman Gest, Jr. of Staunton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Denise Price and her husband Tod of Hillsville and Cynthia (Gest) Arneson and her husband Brian of Staunton; fourteen grandchildren, David Powell-Smith, Derek Shaeffer, Danielle Leal, David Shaeffer, Jennifer Jones, Dana Nelson, Daniel Gest, Kelly Gest, Megan Gest, Brooke Gest, Jenna Arneson, Alex Arneson, Alicia Arneson and Anna Arneson; five great grandchildren, Callista Shaeffer, Tynan Shaeffer, Kaylin Nelson, Drew Jones and Allison Jones.
A Memorial service will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. John Hamric.
The family will receive friends following the service.
