Robert Franklin "Frank" Burke, Jr. 78, widower of Margit (Opel) Burke of Ranson Street, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Burke was born in Rockbridge Baths, Virginia on June 19, 1942, a son of the late Robert Franklin, Sr. and Elizabeth (Holsinger) Burke.
Frank attended Calvary Baptist Church and retired in 1997 from DuPont with thirty years of service as a lycra machine operator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Burke was preceded in death by a son, Tony Michael Burke; a grandson, Cameron Burke; and a brother, McKinley "Kenny" Burke.
Surviving are three sons, James F. "Jimmy" Burke and his wife Jackie of Stuarts Draft, Paul Tomlinson, and Robert F. Burke, III both of Staunton; three daughters, Delores Jean Burke of Staunton, Tina M. Good of Penn Laird, and Jessica Cronin of Waynesboro; four brothers, Paul Burke of Craigsville, Ralph Burke of Roanoke, Scottie Burke of Augusta Springs, and Gene Burke of Rockbridge Baths; three sisters, Doris Sibold of Lexington, Judy Gum of Eagle Rock, and Janet Burke of Lexington; eleven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2021 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Bobby Campbell.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Burke, Dale Burke, Jarred Hammond, Scott Myers, Darrian Wells, and Ryan McCreadie.
