Robert Edward Bob Shields, 73, of Bare Street, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Shields was born on June 23, 1943 in Staunton, a son of the late Robert Thomas Shields and Jane Ellen (Fisher) Shields Arbaugh.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Marines and retired from Western State Hospital where he was employed as a Food Service supervisor. He was an avid golf player and enjoyed playing at the Gypsy Hill Golf course. Bob also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting.
In addition to his parents Mr. Shields was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Leon Lonnie Shields and a sister, Susan Wilfong.
Mr. Shields was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving is a daughter, Teresa (Shields) Harris of Fishersville; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Harris and Matthew Winston Harris; special nephew and caregiver, Michael Shields and his wife Sandra of Staunton; two additional nephews, Thomas A. Shields and wife Romona of Staunton and Dennis Wilfong.
All services will be private.
