Robert Franklin Bob Callihan, 84, widower of Dorothy Anne Callihan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on March 30, 2010.
Bob was born November 23, 1925 in St. Albans, W.V., a son of the late Charles Jack Callihan and Rose Jane (Williams) Callihan.
Mr. Callihan lived at 803 Craig Drive, Staunton Va. for 38 years. Bob was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and graduate of Marshall University. He served as a signalman second class in the United States Navy during World War II. While serving, he received the European Theatre Ribbon, the Pacific Theatre Ribbon, the American Theatre Ribbon, and the Victory Medal.
Mr. Callihan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anne and his brother Paul Joe Callihan.
Survivors include: three sons, Charles Phillip Charlie Callihan and his wife Carolyn of Roswell, Ga., Robert Michael Bobby Callihan and his wife Virginia of Swoope, and Larry Franklin Callihan and his fiance, Virginia Trimble of Staunton, and daughter, Kelli Anne C. Ostrander of Staunton, Bobs brothers James J. Callihan of St. Albans, W.V., C. Harvey Callihan and his wife Virginia of Parkersburg, W.V., and sister-in-law Jean Callihan of Bainbridge Island, Wash. Bob is also survived by six grandchildren: Phillip, Kristen, Courtney, Michael, Megan and Shea, and one great-grandchild, Ryleigh Haven.
The family extends special thanks to neighbors Roy and Nancy Groah for their friendship, help, and dedication and also to Bobs many friends and extended family for having shown much kindness and love over the years.
A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 in the Christ United Methodist Church by Rev. Robert Edwards. Entombment will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens with graveside military rites.
Active pallbearers are Bobs three sons Charlie, Bobby and Larry, his grandsons Phillip and Michael, and family friends Bob Henke, Roy Groah and Ronnie Engleman.
