Robert Arnold "Bob" Burjoice, 90, husband of Bonnie Lee (Gunn) Coffey Burjoice of 1410A North Augusta Street, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Burjoice was born on May 15, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the only child of the late Morris and Marion (Craig) Burjoice.
Robert retired as a Lieutenant Commander of the United States Coast Guard with twenty-six years of service, serving during World War II, the Korean Conflict and two tours in the Vietnam War. He always had an infectious smile and never met a stranger. Robert was intelligent and precise, and was a loving husband and wonderful Dad.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Burjoice was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Butcher of thirty-one years, and a brother-in-law, Walter Butcher.
In addition to his wife of 24 years, he is survived by a step-daughter, Clara May Johnston and her husband Abner of Raphine; a grandson, William Nash Johnston of Raphine; God-daughter, Cathy Colby of Minnesota; a brother-in-law, Ray Dean Gunn and wife Connie of Arizona; special family members, Jean Butcher, Todd Butcher and wife Stacey, Brad Butcher and wife Debbie, and Shane Butcher; and numerous friends.
Robert was cremated by his request and a graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens in Lexington by Reverend Carl E. Trost.
The family will receive friends following the service until 3:00 p.m. at the VFW Post 1499 near the entrance of the cemetery.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions in memory of "Bob" by doing a good deed for someone in need.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to all those who helped with Mr. "B's" care, Debbie Hulse, Dawn Brown, the caregivers and the staffs of Care Advantage, Home Instead, and the Legacy at North Augusta.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of his arrangements.
