Robert Franklin Bobby Garrett, 79, husband of Shirley Ann (Strawderman) Garrett of 807 Balsley Road passed away Friday, September 19, 2014, at his residence.
Mr. Garrett was born on March 2, 1935, in Lost River, West Virginia, a son of the late James F. and Daisy (Haas) Garrett.
Robert was a member of Fishersville United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. He was a member of the Ruritan Club and of the Valley Gospel Heirs Quartet. Robert was a school bus driver and a lifelong farmer and worked until his very last day. Mr. Garrett enjoyed farming, collecting bottles, and putting puzzles together and framing them. He also loved animals of all kinds.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by one brother, Ferguson Massey; and three sisters, Merle Garrett Wiseman Roy, Eva Garrett Palmer, and Eugenia Jean Shiflett; and a brother-in-law, Earl Blackwell.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his loving wife of fifty five years; one brother, Kenneth H. Garrett and wife Lorene of Collinsville; two sisters, Thelma Massey of Greenville, and Audrey Blackwell of Staunton; a brother-in-law, H. Bub Shiflett of Staunton; many nieces and nephews; and a multitude of special friends and neighbors also survive.
Active pallbearers will be Tory Garrett, Butch Nulty, Roger Shiflett, Troy Kyle, T.J. Garrett, Ivan Garrett, and Sam Garrett.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014, in the Fishersville United Methodist Church, 1600 Jefferson Highway, Fishersville, and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, in the Fishersville United Methodist Church by Pastor Larry Jent.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
