Rissie Lee (Crockett) Thomas, 88, widow of George Milton Thomas passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Kings Daughters Community Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Thomas was born April 7, 1924 on Tangier Island, a daughter of the late John W. and Ruth Ann (Sparrow) Crockett.
Mrs. Thomas worked at United Methodist Childrens Home in Richmond, VA and was a member of Greenville United Methodist Church in Greenville, VA. She loved children, her own and others and enjoyed cooking for those she loved.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include her children, John A. Thomas of Everett, WA, June T. Lewis and husband Steve of Selma, VA, Joyce T. Soper and husband Larry of Stuarts Draft, George W. Thomas and wife Julie of Staunton and Laura T. Duncan and her husband John G. of Seaboard, NC; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2012 at Greenville United Methodist Church by Pastor Kevin Haynes.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or your local Hospice.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
