Richard "Rick" Wills Anderson, 69, of Port Republic, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his residence.

Born in Richmond, VA, he was preceded in death by his parents, the late William E. and Phyllis (Wills) Anderson Jr.

Surviving relatives include his daughter, Amanda Carbonello and her husband Rob; a grandson, Michael; longtime companion Jane Sheets; brothers, Bill Anderson and David Anderson (Laura); sister Barbara Farrar (Steve); and several nieces and nephews.

A graduate from Virginia Tech, he worked for the Virginia Departments of Health and Labor and Industry while living in Richmond. He moved to Rockingham County 25 years ago to work for the Department of Environmental Quality in Harrisonburg, retiring with over 30 years of service to the state of Virginia. In his retirement, he worked part time for Page County and was an active member in several community organizations, including the Ruritan Club and the Marine Corps League.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, with Pastor Derek Boggs officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer a donation to the Grottoes Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 67, Grottoes, VA 24441; the Grottoes Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1187, Grottoes, VA 24441; or the Wagstaff Circle Volunteer Fire Department, 2101 Adkins Rd, North Chesterfield, VA 23236 (or www.wagstaffvfd.com) where his father was volunteer fire chief for many years.
