Richard John Summers, Sr., 70, of 170 South Bath Street, Waynesboro passed away Sunday, December 18, 2011 at the McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond.

Mr. Summers was born January 25, 1941 in Broad Creek, New Jersey, a son of the late Samuel and Hazel (Scribner) Summers.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy and had previously been employed by Brown and Root Construction. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and visiting with friends at the BP and Sheetz Stations in Waynesboro.

Mr. Summer is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Survivors are a niece, Karen Bouton of Falls Church and a special friend, Mike Twarcoski of Charlottesville.

A Graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor William Strickler.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
