Retired SSG Richard Edward Gill, 73, husband of Lee Ann Gill, of Waynesboro, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Gill was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on April 8, 1948, a son of Delores (Hoover) Gill Hetrick and the late Thomas Edward Gill.

Richard retired from the United States Army National Guard in Staunton after 20 years of service. He proudly served his country, where he completed two tours, in the Vietnam War. He also retired from GE and Genicom where he was employed as a technician. Richard received an Associate's degree from Blue Ridge Community College prior to receiving a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from James Madison University.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and his wife of 50 years, is a son, Steven Thomas Gill and his wife Laura of Tennessee; two daughters, Nicole Ann Gill and her husband Brian Turner of Virginia, and Jacqueline Ann Lincecum of Maryland;  three brothers, Donald Gill and his wife Janet of Pennsylvania, David Gill and his wife Virginia of Virginia, and Jeffrey Gill and his wife Yvonne of  Pennsylvania; a sister, Eileen Gill of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Krystyna Gill, Austin Turner, Jaden Turner, Nicholas North, Guy Lincecum, and Harper Lincecum; and one great-grandchild, Liam Turner.

Services will be held at a later date.
