Reuben R.W. Staton
CHURCHVILLE:
Reuben William R.W. Pop Staton, 80, husband of Nancy (Cash) Staton of 235 Crawford Drive passed away Monday, October 25, 2010 in the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Mr. Staton was born March 27, 1930 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, a son of Mary Staton.
Prior to his retirement from the Augusta County School Board as Shop Foreman, R.W. was retired as a truck driver from Smiths Transfer with 25 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching NASCAR and reading books. Mr. Staton was an U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his mother, Reuben was preceded in death by a brother Frank Alford Staton.
Surviving in addition to his wife of twenty seven years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, William Lee Staton and his wife Cindy of Verona and Thomas H. Staton and his wife Tandy of Staunton; three step-sons, Carl Puffenbarger Jr. and his wife Robin of Middlebrook, William F. Puffenbarger of Churchville, and Buck Puffenbarger and his wife Kelli of Staunton; a brother and sister-in-law Homer Staton and his wife Judy of Rockbridge Baths; a sister Ann Heaton of Johnson City, Tennessee; a special granddaughter, whom he raised, Jessica M. Puffenbarger; his former wife and best friend Wanda H. Staton of Staunton; eight additional grandchildren, Michelle McNeal, Dustin Staton, Zach Staton, Chance Staton, Ashley Puffenbarger, Clayton Puffenbarger, Ashley Puffenbarger, and Kelsi Puffenbarger; and three great-grandchildren Claire McNeal, Katelyn Hodge, and Dalton Ashley also survive.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening (Wednesday) October 27, 2010 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
Entombment will be private in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens.
