Rebecca (Smith) Koiner Runion, 79, formerly of Lancaster Avenue passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Runion was born on June 1, 1934 in Staunton, the daughter of the late William Franklin and Irene (Carr) Smith.

Mrs. Runion was a member of Mountain View Church of Christ. She was retired from Western State Hospital in the food service department with 30 years of service. She was a member of AARP and enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and sending cards to her family and friends for all occasions.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Runion was preceded death by her first husband, Cecil Albert Koiner and her second husband, Robert Runion; her step-mother, Betty Ruth Smith and five brothers, Pete Smith, George Smith, Lawrence Smith, Carr Smith and Reese Smith.

Survivors include a son, William A. Bill Koiner and wife Patricia of Swoope; a daughter, Jennifer L. Koiner-Sirkis and husband Jerry of Boyds, Maryland; three brothers, Nelson Smith and David Smith both of Staunton, and Charlie Smith of Crimora; three grandchildren, Stephanie Koiner, Melissa Koiner and Brianna Sirkis and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, December 27, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, 146 Gap Orchard Lane in Swoope.

A Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Steve P. Cline.

Burial will in be Oaklawn Memory Gardens at a later date.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
