Rebecca Jean "Becky" (Mynes) Dodson, 77, of Staunton, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Dodson was born in Raphine, Virginia on May 30, 1945, a daughter of the late Joe H. Mynes and Margaret (Fulwider) Mynes.

Becky worked for Planters Bank, Montgomery Ward, and retired in 2007 from Thornrose Cemetery after serving as superintendent. She served in ministry with her husband for 43 years, serving as organist, Sunday school teacher, and loving the congregations they served. She loved to knit and read. She knitted baby blankets for the preemie babies born at UVA and Augusta Health.

Mrs. Dodson is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Merle Dodson; a daughter, Karen Dodson of Staunton; a sister, Claudie Kyger and her husband, Donald of Raphine; a brother, Bucky Mynes and his wife, Deborah of Waynesboro; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends form 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory followed by a  celebration of Rebecca's life at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel by Reverend Phillip Morgan and Evangelist Drew Gibbons.

Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Raymond Shaner, James Marcum, Roger Bowling, Jr., Glen Hughes, Devoe Gibbons, and Deon Gibbons.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Deerfield Church of God.
