Raymond Elwood Lunsford, 90, widower of Anna Regina (Hitt) Lunsford of 696 Mt. Torrey Road, went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his family, on Friday, August 17, 2018 in the Shenandoah Nursing and Rehab in Fishersville.
Mr. Lunsford was born on January 24, 1928 in Lyndhurst, a son of the late William "Howard" and Sybil Ruth (Critzer) Lunsford.
Raymond was an active member of Sherando United Methodist Church where he served as an usher, he rang the church bells on Sunday mornings, and was treasurer of the United Methodist Men's Club. Mr. Lunsford was a proud veteran of the United States Army, he retired from Dupont in 1985 with 38 years of service, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife of 40 years and his parents, Mr. Lunsford was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Deborah Daugherty; seven brothers, David, William, Charles, Alfred, Arthur, Elmer Ray, and Earl Gene Lunsford.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna L. Beaudoin and her husband Richard L. "Beau", and Sheila L. Toms and her husband Larry both of Waynesboro, and Kathryn L. Almarode and her husband Jeff of Lyndhurst; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, 2018 in the Sherando United Methodist Church by Pastors David Breeden and Greg Kropff.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Larry Toms, Richard "Beau" Beaudoin, Jason Almarode, Jared Almarode, Tim Wilson, Tony Floyd, Dylan Campbell, and Bill Waggy.
