Raymond Alexander Buchanan, Jr., 59, husband of Gail Buchanan of Staunton, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at his residence.
Mr. Buchanan was born in Staunton, Virginia on February 18, 1962, a son of late Raymond Alexander Buchanan, Sr. and Mary Sue (Bowman) Buchanan.
Raymond attended Bridge Christian Church. He worked for Guy C. Eavers for twenty-six years and Augusta Utilities for ten years before becoming disabled. Raymond loved his grandchildren and was a Ford Man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid wrestling fan.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Buchanan was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Buchanan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Kenny Butler and Chuck Butler; a nephew who was like a son, Chris Buchanan and his daughters, Brooklyn and Everly Buchanan; a sister, Sharon Pence; four grandchildren, Brett Butler, Nathan Butler, Emma Butler, and Brady Butler; special friend, Brittany "Bubba" Johnson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in the Bridge Christian Church by Pastor Todd Brown.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smile Train in honor of his granddaughter, Emma Butler, 633 Third Avenue, 9th Floor, New York, NY 10017, or American Diabetes Foundation, Post Office Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312 or the Bridge Christian Church, c/o Building Fund, 1275 Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.
