Ray Sorrells
RAPHINE:
Ray Sorrells, 72, husband of Carolyn (Day) Sorrells of 88 Days Lane, Raphine passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Sorrells was born in Spottswood on August 14, 1938 a son of the late Claudie Lee and Louise Gertrude (Heslep) Sorrells.
Prior to his illness, Mr. Sorrells was employed with Hershey Tire Company as a commercial tire salesman. He was a life member of the Old Providence A.R.P. Church where he served as a deacon of the church, grounds keeper and a youth group leader. Mr. Sorrells belonged to the Big Valley Coonhunters Association and the Virginia Houndsman Association. He was a past president of the Riverheads Athletic Boosters Club, he coached the Raphine Little League Baseball teams, South Augusta All-Stars and the South Augusta Babe Ruth.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Lee Sorrells, Sr. and Jackson H. Sorrells.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 36 years are three sons, Travis W. Sorrells, Eric K. Sorrells and Tracy L. Sorrells all of Raphine; a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy S. Clemmer and her husband Philip of Middlebrook; a sister Mary Frances Alexander of Stuarts Draft; two grandchildren, Kayla Clemmer and Justin Clemmer and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 in the Old Providence A.R.P. Church Cemetery by Pastor H. Max Bolin.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 til 9:00 p.m. in the church fellowship hall at Old Providence A.R.P. Church, 1005 Spootswood Road, Steeles Tavern, VA.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
