Ralph Dearborn Xander, 84, husband of M. Mignon (Christmas) Xander of 751 Mt. Solon Road, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Xander was born August 19, 1930 in Washington, D. C. a son of the late Ralph A. and Emily (Kolb) Xander.
Ralph retired in 1977 after 21 years of service as the chief steam engineer for the National Cathedral. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and a patron member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Virginia Shooting Sports Association.
In addition to his wife of forty-two years, survivors include a son Todd C. Xander and wife Kim of North Carolina; a daughter, Vicki M. Xander-McCaskell and husband Rob of Alexandria; two step sons, Jim Bynum and wife Jane of Illinois, and Drury H. Bynum and wife Linda of Louisiana; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at his residence at a later date.
